Jio Platforms, the digital subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd, has made an acquisition of Mimosa Networks, a US-based communications equipment maker, for $60 million. This strategic move is aimed at strengthening Jio’s 5G telecom and broadband services.

According to the official statement by Radisys Corporation, a subsidiary of Jio Platforms, the acquisition of Mimosa Networks was made through a definitive agreement with Airspan Networks Holdings. The purchase was made on a debt-free, cash-free basis.

While Reliance Jio Infocomm is already India’s largest telecom firm, the acquisition of Mimosa Networks, with its range of point-to-multi-point products based on WiFi-5 and newer WiFi 6E technologies, will add to Jio’s existing portfolio. The company will also have access to related accessories, which will further enhance its services.

The statement further highlighted the relevance of Mimosa’s products for backhaul requirements for 5G and FTTX/FWA rollouts. It also mentioned that Jio has been a major customer of Mimosa’s solutions.
